The Figures panel is where you determine the placement of EndNote figures in a Microsoft Word document. Figures are copied from the Figure field in EndNote into your Word document with Cite While You Write.
Note: Figures can be inserted from any EndNote reference type except the "Chart or Table" reference type. Images in the "Chart or Table" reference type are inserted into Word as Tables.
To get to the Figures panel, go to the Edit menu, select Output Styles, and then select Open Style Manager. Select a style, click Edit, then scroll down to the Figures and Tables panels.
Placement
Select one of these options to place each figure either directly after the paragraph that cites it, or in a list at the end of the document:
Insert figures in-text, near the reference to the figure
Insert figures as a list at the end of the document
When you insert figures in-text, you can use Cite While You Write Preferences to override this automatic placement when you reformat. This is helpful if you have moved figures around in your document and want to retain their placement.
Captions
For each figure, a label is inserted by EndNote (for example, "Figure 1"), while the Caption is inserted from the Caption field in the EndNote reference. Select one of these options to place the label and caption either above or below each figure:
Place caption above the figure
Place caption below the figure
Then, select the check box if you want the label and caption to appear on separate lines.
Place label and caption on separate lines
